Electrical engineering and specialty contracting for the power generation industry

Formed in 1972, SCDA has been involved with all phases of diesel power generation and distribution for small utilities throughout Alaska, ranging in size from 50 kw power for a glacier based ski training facility to 7.5 mw diesel for the city of Kodiak. Primary focus at present is the design and installation of medium sized diesel generators, high voltage switch gear modifications, metering and control systems.

generation

( more information will be added as it becomes available)

NEA is planning a generation addition for the spring of 2004. To make space for this expansion, the following equipment will be taken out of service in August of 2004. The engines are in service now and can be inspected at any time. Bids will be accepted for the three generators , switchgear, accessories and spare parts as one unit. Selected bidder will take possession and remove the equipment at that time. The units are located in NEA's main plant in Naknek, Alaska, a community located on the east side of Bristol Bay. Transportation is by air and barge only. No highway or rail service is available. A list of moving contractors and barge companies will be added to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

The three skid mounted engine generators will be removed from the plant by NEA and placed in an easily accessible location on the power plant property.  Basic weather protection will be provided but it will be the bidders responsibility to complete appropriate shipping arrangements.

Additional equipment included in this proposal includes a Superior model 40-SX-8 removed in 1998.  This machine was rated at 500 kw and has a 2400 volt generator.  This unit was placed in a 40 foot shipping container at that time.  Additional salvaged equipment was also stored in the van and is included.  This includes the Westinghouse F125 OCB,s and 5kv,200 amp, 5 kv knife switches removed during a switchgear upgrade.  Detailed information on this is available on request.
